Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena is a wonderful small village of Liguria dating back to the 11th century. The typical stone houses of the historical center climb up on the mountain to reach the castle which rises imposing and commanding on the Barbena Rock, 1142 meters high, from which the village takes its name.
Castelvecchio had many troubled historical vicissitudes but despite this, it preserves its ancient fortified architecture.
Walking through the village it is possible to catch sight of corners not touched by the time like the ancient washing trough and the typical ovens, forming projecting humps which can be spotted from the external walls of the ancient houses.
